But the plug-in developer has to be cognizant of Logic's data handling when developing the AU version. With RTAS you don't care, because the only thing that's happening when you bypass a plug is you're routing the audio around the process, but the process is still running.

Pro Tools does not free up cpu resources when you bypass a plug-in, which is the main reason you can usually have so many more plug instances in Logic.

You can certainly get RTAS plugs to click too, under certain conditions depending on what it's doing at the time. In either case, for either app, you're better off automating some parameter state rather than bypassing, if there's signal flowing at the moment you need that change.

Ah right you are about RTAS plugins. I guess that is the trade off then with Logic. It handles audio more adaptively but prone to clicking on certain things. So the best solution probably is to use several tracks and chop up the audio between them, or automate the plugin parameters. FYI, that's my favorite way to work too. Makes for a much easier workflow if you later decide to move regions in time - no automation to worry about.

Posted November 28, This was just the Channel EQ that I was using, but I could always try a different one, just to see if that changes anything These types of artifacts are usually my first cue that I need to up my buffer size.
